Built in the 14th century, the Popes' Palace is a stunning complex of two buildings: the Old Palace of Benedict XII and the New Palace of Clement VI. As the world's largest medieval fortress and the most expansive Gothic palace ever built, it boasts 15,000 m² of living space—equivalent to four Gothic cathedrals. Stroll through the restored private gardens of the popes, where the griffin fountain and flower-filled meadows have been faithfully recreated.
From May 1, 2026, discover original interpretive narratives and explore rooms never before open to the public. The tour, organised around three themes, is enhanced with interactive models, documentary films, explanatory panels, and updated signage, offering an immersive journey into the daily and grand history of the palace.

Your visit continues at the legendary Pont d'Avignon, built in the 12th century. Originally spanning the Rhône with 22 arches, only four remain today after centuries of floods and conflicts.
